The vineyard
I guess we could begin the Marsh Estate story by telling the straight facts… that Marsh Estate was planted over 40 years ago on the two most famous soil profiles in the Hunter Valley and therefore qualifying for the Heritage Listing Old Vine. Everything is grown, handpicked, made, matured and bottled on site. The entire vineyard is NON-IRRIGATED. If a system similar to the French Appellation came into Australia and in particular the Hunter… Marsh Estate would be the only wine company which would qualify.
The Winemaker
The real story is that my family drank a lot. A lot! I think it was just cheaper for us to make our own. What ultimately transpired was this amazingly competitive family dedication to not only make excellent wine but to create possibilities beyond our expectations with rigorous integrity. It was fun growing up in the Marsh house, wine was everything. The story continues today…
Andrew Marsh spent his early life waiting to make wine at Marsh Estate. He now makes wine at Marsh Estate and has been for nearly 20 years. He has nothing more to say.
